Yatinuwara veediya ?
This road scene was taken in the Yatinuwara Veediya (former Brownrigg Street). In the background the McCallums shop can be seen.
As a school boy in 1962 I visited the popular bookshop then, McCallums in the picture. My guess the building in the background is Dharmaraja College, Primary Division very close to Naatha Devalaya in that era. Full of nostalgia.
No doubt. That’s Yatinuwara Veediya.
The Brylcreem and Dia shirts ads tell something
about the period!
Thanks a lot for sharing these information, every bit helps!
