Lankatilaka Vihara built by Parakramabahu (1153-86), and later restored by Vijayabahu IV, the huge gedige Lankatilaka has 17m high walls, although the roof has collapsed. The cathedral-like aisle leads to a huge 14m-tall (46 ft) standing headless Buddha. The outer walls of the gedige, decorated with bas-reliefs, show typical Polonnaruwa structures in their original state.
