Native Sinhalese Toddy collector #IMG775 Toddy (Raa) is the sap of palm trees used as a beverage. To collect palm sap, the flower bud is cut at the tip before it blossoms and a pot (clay pot) is hung to collect the sap. This tradition method of collecting Toddy is slowly becoming a rare scene.
In 1950s I travelled to primary school with my two elder sisters in a very similar cart. Carts of this kind always parked at railway stations as taxis, even in a place like Gampaha.
All I can say is pictures are amazing.
feel like to go back to the Gold age
